Update from Gale Treat
I went up and visited Phil for a little while this morning. Both his daughters were there. He had a stroke in his sleep Saturdaynite and was not found until Wednesday.
He knew who I was , but looked weak and his whole left side is paralized. He is in Neuro Critical Care, Rm #1 at St Francis. He can have visitors, but not too many at once.
His daughter told me that when he gets better, they plan on moving him to a rehab facility, most probably in Lawrence.
From Nile -
I just received a text from his daughter that Phil is going to a rehab center in Lawrence tomorrow (Thursday 2/13).

I went to see Phil today 2-12-2014. He was very tired and did not look very well.
Although as you can see in the picture he was punching at the camera with his punching bag hand, which told me that he is in good spirits but just on a lot of drugs. He really wanted to let everyone see that he looks better than he did a few days ago.
He still has a long way to go and is a fighter.
He does know who people are and would love to see any of you golf club members.
I don't think he will be getting out of the hospital anytime soon, so if you get a chance please go down and see him for awhile.
He is still in ICU and struggling but the nurse said he was awake all morning and doing better than a few days ago. My wife thought his blood pressure was real low when we got there 75 over 58 . A few minutes later the nurse came in and put something in his IV and his blood pressure instantly jumped to 110 over 60 still not perfect but much much better.
Oh an by the way when you leave you might want to turn up the volume on the TV. You see Phil does not have his hearing aides in and has a hard time hearing the TV. He can use his right hand but I am not sure about his left hand. The reason I say this is that he signaled to me to turn up the volume on the TV with his right hand. This was the same boxing glove hand he wanted everyone to see in the picture.
Phil can talk and does but it is hard to understand him. That is the reason he uses his hand to signal what he wants or needs.
If you guys get a chance go down to see him he is in Neurocritical Care, Rm #1 at St Francis.
